Samsung Exynos 9610 Vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 flagship & mid-range comparison is about to begin.
In this comparison, we would be taking a look at two great chipsets from two world best chipset makers Qualcomm and Samsung, which are Snapdragon 845 and Exynos 9610.
The inception of Snapdragon 845 in early 2018 preceded other chipsets in the high-end SoCs from Qualcomm until the Snapdragon 855 was released into flagship smartphones. With the popular Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9 Plus being the first phones to feature the Snapdragon 845 chip which later surfaced in Sony Xperia XZ2 & XZ2 Compact and Xiaomi Mi 8 phones respectively.
These phones have shown great performance in output and productivity. Samsung has shown a considerable improvement in its own end by introducing the Exynos 9610 into the mid-range smartphone flagships of 2019. This chip is said to compete with SoCs even in the high-end with its unique features.
Samsung Exynos 9610 is manufactured using a 10nm FinFET process technology, while the Snapdragon 845 is also manufactured using the same 10nm FinFET process technology and for a high end SoC we expect the Snapdragon 845 to poses something better. There’s really no difference in their process technology.
Samsung Exynos 9610 Vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 845: Processor
This segment brings a much differentiation in both chipsets, in that, the Exynos chip houses 8 cores modeled into 4 Cortex A-73 high lifting task cores and 4 Cortex A-53 smaller tasking cores. Whlie the first 4 cores clocks around 2.3GHz the other 4 has up to 1.7GHz speeds.
The Snapdragon 845 on the other hand capacitates same 8 cores, 4/4 configuration but has 4 Cortex A-75 heavy duty cores operating at 2.8GHz and 4 efficiency Cortex A-55 cores clocked at up to 1.8GHZ. Here, the Snapdragon 845 has an upper hand here and posses more stronger features.
Samsung Exynos 9610 Vs Qualcomm Snapdragon 845: Graphics
Graphics Unit is responsible for real life Gaming and Exynos 9610 integrates a powerful Mali-G72 MP3 GPU with awesome feature, while Snapdragon operates on Adreno 630 GPU. Qualcomm hasn’t revealed much about this GPU but says it posses a 30% increase in performance over its predecessors following Futuremark’s 3DMark Sling Shot 3.1 Extreme Unlimited test, which mainly shows the GPU improvements of a system.
Here, the Snapdragon 845 easily reaches its performance target, improving by up to 32% compared to the Snapdragon 835 in the Pixel 2 XL and Galaxy S8 smartphones. The Adreno 630 GPU can only be competed by the GPU in Iphone X.
Snapdragon 845 comes with Qualcom’s range of smart intelligence known as Qualcomm Spectra 280 ISP, while Exynos 9610 features a vision and image processing unit based on neural network engine.
The Snapdragon 845 boasts of 8GB Memory bandwidth with up to 1866MHz, while the Exynos 9610 utilizes 6GB 1600MHz memory bandwidth and possesses 5.1 eMMC as compared to 5 eMMC in Snapdragon 845.
A higher version of eMMC will allow faster memory interfaces, creating a positive effect on the performance of a device. For example, when transferring files from computer to the internal storage using a USB.
Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 845 has an X20 LTE Cat.18 and Cat.13 with download speed of 1.2Gbps and 150Mbps uploads speeds, Bluetooth 5.0 Wi-Fi 802.11ac while the Exynos chip integrates an LTE Cat.12 and Cat.13 of 600Mbps downloads and 150Mbps Uploads, Bluetooth 5.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 ac. Connectivity is more better with Snapdragon 845.
Over at AnTuTu, specifically on the version 6, the 9610 reaches an avg score of 143662, while the 845 reaches an avg score of 225,534.
