Huawei Mate 20 has officially been introduced by Huawei in an event today in London. The Mate 20 is the little sibling of the Mate 20 Pro we revealed earlier. Furthermore, it boasts of the trendy in-display fingerprint scanner as well as housing the powerful Kirin 980 flagship chipset and triple rear camera. Surprisingly it sports the waterdrop notch, which is totally different from what we saw on the Pro version. It should be in competition with the Galaxy A7 2018 and Oppo R17 Pro.
Design
The new Mate 20 smartphone was designed with aluminium alloy with front and back glass. It’s IP53 certified offering dust and splash protection only, the triple rear camera can be seen in the same position on the Pro version. The fingerprint reader has been moved to the screen as well. It measures 8.3mm in thickness and weighs 188g overall, it’s only available in Emerald Green, Midnight Blue, Twilight, Pink Gold and Black colors as well.
Display
The Mate 20 sports a 6.53-inch FHD+ IPS LCD water-drop display. The screen boasts of 1080 x 2244 pixels in resolution along with a 381 pixel per inch density for sharp visuals. Overall, the screen stretches up to 88% screen-to-body as well.
Software and Hardware
It runs on Android 9.0 Pie operating system out of the box. Under the hood, the HiSilicon Kirin 980 chipset from Huawei runs the race, it comes with 8-cores of processor clocking at 2.6GHz for a smooth ride.
The Mali-G76 MP10 graphics card handles graphics. For storing files, the device packs 128GB internal storage space which is expandable up to 256GB using a memory card. It boasts of 6GB RAM space for multitasking through apps.
Camera
The Huawei Mate 20 is equipped with triple 12MP + 16MP + 8MP rear shooters for photography. The camera is accompanied by a dual-LED flash and other internal features listed in the table below. In the selfie department, there’s a 24MP selfie shooter for all your selfies as well.
Battery
Powering up the Mate 20 is a 4000mAh battery capacity with fast and wireless charging technology. With the fast charging feature, charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 1.7 hours.
