MediaTek Helio G90 and G90T Gaming Chipset launched: See Full Specs

The MediaTek Helio G90 and G90T mobile system on chips have been announced today. According to MediaTek, the chipsets were specifically created to enhance the modern day mobile gaming experience.

The G90 series is also the first to integrate MediaTek’s Hyper Engine, this will optimize the connection between your device and the cellular network. Thereby, letting the antenna to be connected to two Wi-Fi bands or routers simultaneously. We will explain more about the engine in the performance section below.

Process Technology (nm)

Unlike the Snapdragon 730 mobile gaming chipset with 8nm, the G90 and G90T are built on an older 12nm process technology. This is basically the same process on the Helio A22 and P35, it’s not on par with modern day gaming needs.

The chip utilizes Arm Cortex-A76 and Cortex-A55 cores, a combined eight cores of processor clocking at over 2.05GHz with large L3 cache. This affirms MediaTek claims, that the Helio G90 series are built on the latest Arm Cortex Technology. This should offer a significant amount of performance improvements when compared to the Helio P70 and P90.

In the graphics department, the new Arm Mali-G76 3EEMC4 GPU clocked up 800MHz takes centre stage. Thanks to the AI engine, the CPU and GPU deliver up to 1TMACs performance, this is due to the fact that the MediaTek combined the latest CPU and GPU cores with ultra-fast memory and AI tech.

MediaTek Helio G90 Performance

The chipset can power camera sensor up to 64MP, including 48MP multi-camera support. For example, triple rear camera & quad rear camera as well. Apart from offering the best gaming experience with reduced lag than other chips from the company, the G90 series offers vivid colors and images, with a super fast and responsive display.

It can support up to 10GB of RAM and a LPDDR4x memory speed clocking in at 2133MHz. Packing lots of AI features, thanks to the AI engine, including precise AI facial detection and the power to accelerate AI-camera applications. It can record both 4K and 1080p videos and 720p vids at up to 240fps. While the Hyper Engine will make sure you experience the fastest and smoothest gaming experience.

Connectivity

The chipset supports Dual 4G SIM, MediaTek TAS and Cat-12 4G LTE modem, alongside the Intelligent Network Prediction Engine which offers the best network connection. It also supports Dual Wi-Fi Connections, which allows you connect to two bands simultaneously.

Benchmarks (AnTuTu)

Over at AnTuTu, the chipset hasn’t been tested yet, but we’re expecting a point over 200,000 on the Chinese benchmarking site.
