Huawei Y5 Prime 2018 was announced in June but just went on sale today in Europe. The device debuted first in Spain and will be retailing for just a token, it was seen with the Enjoy 9 Plus and Y9 2019. The Y5 Prime 2018 targets those on a budget and sports full view display and a “big battery”, according to Huawei.
Design
The device sports a Plastic back and a metal frame. There’s no fingerprint scanner here, so you have to depend on the Face Unlock feature it comes with. It measures 8.3mm in thickness, weighs 142g overall as well and is available in Blue and Black colors.
Display
The Y5 Prime 2018 is built around a 5.45-inch HD+ IPS LCD full view display. The screen boasts of 720 x 1440 pixels in resolution along with a 295 pixel per inch density for clear visuals. Overall, the beautiful screen stretches up to 73.68% screen-to-body as well and is protected by a 2.5D curved glass screen.
Software and Hardware
It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo Go Edition out of the box. Running the race here is the MT6739 chipset from MediaTek, it comes with 4-cores of processor clocking at 1.5GHz for a smooth ride.
The PowerVR GE8100 graphics card handles graphics. For storing files, the device packs 16GB internal storage space which is expandable up to 128GB using a memory card. It boasts of just 1GB RAM space as well for multitasking through apps.
Camera
The Huawei Y5 Prime 2018 features an 8MP rear camera for photography. The camera is accompanied by a LED flash and other internal features listed in the table below. For taking selfies, there’s a 5MP Selfie camera for all your selfies.
Battery
Powering up the Y5 Prime 2018 is a 3020mAh battery capacity, there’s no support for fast charging here. Charging the battery from 0% to 100% might take up to 2 hours.
