Xiaomi teases its 64MP camera smartphone, will announce MIUI 11 on August 9

Xiaomi has been cooking different mobile technology for its fans these past couple weeks, and we get to see one or more of those tech before the end of this month. We previously reported the company is preparing the Redmi Note 8, which is expected to sport the industry’s first 64MP camera.

The company teamed up with Samsung’s ISOCELL and revealed their plans at the Xiaomi Future Imaging Technology Communication Meeting in Beijing. Co-founder, Lin Bin revealed the next Redmi smartphone will sport a 64MP camera powered by Samsung’s GW1 sensor.

This sensor features a 1/1.7-inch optic format, which is 34% larger than that of the 48MP sensor on the Redmi Note 7 Pro. The new camera will, of course, produce correct colour reproduction, improve light sensitivity and reduce noise. Mr Bin also noted that with the success of this camera, a 108MP camera is not far away.

The company also revealed the MIUI 11 will be announced on August 9, it will be available for Beta testing in September and will start rolling out globally in October. Users should expect strict advertising regulation, enhanced user experience and better power efficiency.
