Tor Project now accepts Cryptocurrency donations

Tor is a free to use software that allows users browse the web anonymously without using VPNs. It’s Tor Browser can even be used to access the dark web. Tor has been the major provider of internet anonymity for years now, which has been crucial to the development of cryptocurrencies. Anonymity is the heart of cryptocurrencies and the Tor project has been of profound help in this regard.

Following a series of unforeseen events, the Tor Project has announced that it’ll be accepting various cryptocurrencies for donations to the Tor Project. Though we’re not certain this will yield much donation, but it’s a big win for the crypto industry.

For the past few years, a lot of companies have been adding support for cryptocurrency donation. Though this effort is aimed at bringing cryptocurrency to the mainstream, but the efforts are usually short-lived. Due to the bear market that’s still on, a lot of cryptocurrency owners are unwilling to let go of their cryptos. We can’t say yet how this will affect the Tor Project’s decision.

The Tor project announced that they’ll be accepting donations via Bitcoin and other various cryptocurrencies including Ethereum, Litecoin, Zcash, Monero, Bitcoin, Bitcoin Cash, Dash, Augur and Stellar Lumens with immediate effect.

Donators also have the option of providing their name and address when donating. Even though Tor has a good reputation, one would wonder why they’d leave room for such knowing that most cryptocurrency users ain’t always eager to provide their personal information.
