The Samsung Galaxy Watch was introduced alongside the Galaxy Note 9 as the newest flagship smartwatch from the company. Of course it’s the successor to the Gear S3 series, coming with lots of upgrades and features. Lets find out more.

Design

Samsung Galaxy Watch

The smartwatch looks absolutely stunning and was built with Stainless Steel 316L. It also sports comfortable and compatible standard 20/22mm straps for that perfect wrist fit. The Samsung Galaxy Watch supports electronic SIM card aka e-SIM, it comes IP68 certifications offering dust and water resistant.

Talk about being rugged, the smartwatch brings the MIL-STD-810G military certified qualifications to the table and supports Samsung Pay. The Galaxy Watch has a dimension of 49 x 46 x 13 mm and weighs just 63g. It will be available in Silver (46mm), Midnight Black and Rose Gold (42mm).

Display

The watch is built around a 1.3-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen and stretching up to 24.2% screen-to-body ratio. In terms of resolution, it has 360 x 360 pixels and 392 pixel per inch density for sharp visuals.

It’s protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass DX+ and supports multitouch. Other screen features include the Always-on display and rotating bezel.

Software and Hardware

The Samsung Galaxy Watch runs on Tizen-based wearable OS 4.0 out of the box. Under the hood, the Exynos 9110 chipset does the trick and comes with dual-core processor clocking at 1.15GHz.

There are two versions in terms of RAM and storage, the LTE model has 4GB storage space and 1.5GB RAM. While the BTT model has 4GB storage space and 768MB of RAM.

Connectivity

The watch comes with an MP3 player, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2 and GPS with A-GPS, GLONASS. Samsung also brought on NFC here as well. Sensors include accelerometer, gyro, heart rate and barometer. It’s equipped with S-Voice natural language commands and dictation.

Powering the watch up is a 472mAh Non-removable Li-Ion battery that boasts of a standby time of up to 72 hours. The Galaxy Watch also supports WPC wireless charging.
