Samsung Exynos 7885 Review, Phones, Specs and Benchmarks

The Samsung Exynos 7885 Octa-core Processor is also regarded as Exynos 7 series, leading the pack. It was created to bring the exceptional flagship experience to mid-range smartphone. It delivers high class processing power employing high-fidelity gaming graphics in the gaming department. All of these will be explained below in this full review of the 7885 chipset.

Samsung Exynos 7885

Introduced in early 2018, the chipset focuses on improving the web-browsing experience on upper mid-range Galaxy devices. The LTE modem it comes with support almost all the global networks you could probably think of. Apart from that, the chipset features enjoyable multimedia experiences, including the advanced Image Signal Processor, simply known as ISP and Multi-Format Codec, also known as MFC.

Samsung Exynos 7885 Octa-core Processor

As expected, it comes with an octa-core processor, the first CPU cores are two Cortex-A73 cores clocking at 2.2GHz. While the remaining six Cortex-A53 reaches a clock speed of 1.6GHz. It’s also worthy to note that the combined 8 cores on this chip consists of three-cluster architecture. Thanks to the above feature, which optimizes the computing power using the advanced power control.

It’s single core delivers up to 85% in performance compared to its predecessor. This helps a lot when it comes to seamless multi-tasking, website loading and faster app launching. Apart from supporting every major network, it also offers fast downloading and uploading speed of 600Mbps and 150Mbps respectively. The chip records 4K UHD filming and playback @ 30fps, just like the 8890.

It came with the new 4-mode GNSS(Global Navigation Satellite System) for brand new location experience. The chip was the first to integrate a DSLR-like photography to mid-range smartphones. Thanks to the advanced ISP which can support up to four cameras, including dual 16MP shooters and iris sensor. It also incorporates beautifully blurring bokeh effect for portrait mode which helps in producing monochrome images.

Samsung Exynos 7885 Graphics

The ARM Mali-G71 MP2 GPU on the chip was designed on the advanced Bifrost architecture, this employs high graphic processing capability to the phone it’s powering. Furthermore, it’s accompanied by advanced graphic processing technologies which enables a smooth graphics and gaming process.

Process Technology (nm)

The 7885 was designed on the 2nd generation 14nm FinFET LLP process technology. The LPP here stands for Low-Power Plus, providing advanced performance and power efficiency.

Benchmarks (AnTuTu)

Over at AnTuTu, specifically on the version 6, the 7785 reaches a minimum score of 83284, an average of 130165, median of 85506 and max of 87728.
