Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 was introduced in mid 2016 as a high end ARM-based single chip system found on Android and tablets. It was built to complement the outdated 820, building on the technology leadership introduced with the Snapdragon 820 platform. The 821 is improved to deliver faster speed, more power savings and greater application performance.

Also to note is the Qualcomm 3.0 quick charge technology supported on the 821 which offers up to 18W charging boost for all handsets. It comes packed with the X12 LTE modem, which is 3 times faster with upload speed of about 33% faster download speed compared to the X10 LTE.
The X12 LTE has a download speed of about 600Mbps and 150Mbps, multi-gigabit 802.11ad and 802.11ac Wi-Fi process. Three out of four iPhone 7 models use modems from Qualcomm.
