Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Review, Phones, Specs, Benchmarks

Tests have it that the Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 does not heat up much as the Snapdragon 810. This System on chip platform which powered a wave of flagship Android phones in 2015 was announced in April 2014.

Process Technology (nm)

With a new process technology of 20nm the Snapdragon 808 outsmarted it’s predecessors which had 28nm process technology. This means there was room for higher performances in functionality while maintaining a steady and lesser power consumption. This was the same process node we saw on the Exynos 5433 and Exynos 5430.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Processor

Qualcomm Snapdragon 808

The chipset is built with 6 CPU cores. 2 CPU efficiency cores and 4 performance cores making it a bit less faster than the Snapdragon 810. The two Core CPU run on ARMv8 Cortex A-57 at 2.0GHz speed, while the remaining four slower performance CPU cores run on the Cortex A-53 at 1.5GHz speed. All six cores (Hexa-core) can function the same time provided the applications can support all six cores efficiently. The Snapdragon 808 is 64-bit enabled with an Advanced LPDDR3 memory controller which integrates at about 933MHz.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 Graphics

The chip functions on the Adreno 418 with clock speed up to 600MHz and it’s slightly similar to the 810’s Adreno 430 because they are built with the same architecture.

Performance

While the Snapdragon 808 offers a 128ALUs the Adreno 430 integrates at 192 shader technology. However, the GPU can easily handle demanding Android games and high resolution displays with resolution exceeding Full HD.

Other features of the 808 includes it offers Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n/ac at a control speed of about 867Mbps with a Wi-Fi spectra band of 2.4GHz upload speed and 5Ghz download speed.

It supports X10 LTE with download speed of about 450Mbps when fully integrated at 3×20MHz LTE advanced carrier aggregation. Meaning with the right network condition, you can download in less than minutes a Full HD movie.

It offers up to 21Mega Poxel camera support and also displays 2560×1600 maximum on-Device display support. It supports the Qualcomm 2.0 quick charge technology as well as Bluetooth 4.1

Benchmarks (AnTuTu)

Over at AnTuTu, specifically on the version 5, the chip reaches a low of 49941, avg of 51714.3, median of 52279 and max points of 52923.
