Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SD660 AIE Review, Phones, Specs

Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 SD660 is known for its fast processing capability and functionality based on its more advance features which consist of 8 Kryo 260 cores that are divided in two clusters which includes four fast cores which is capable of clocking up to 2.2 GHz and a power saving efficiency cluster of four cores which clock up to 1.8 GHz.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 660

It is built on the 64 bit framework and the design is based on ARM Cortex technology, and Qualcomm Hexagon DSP. Introducing support for Hexagon Vector eXtensions (HVX) for the first time in the 600 series. It is mainly used by android devices and was announced in 2017. It is capable of providing seamless processing experience for mid-range to top-tier devices.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Processor

The (64 Bit) ARM octa core system fitted with LPDDR4 memory controller (dual-channel 1866 MHz) combined effortlessly to provide support for Wi-Fi (802.11ac + MIMO, max. 867 Mbps), Bluetooth 5, and LTE (X12 LTE modem with up to 600 Mbps download and 150 Mbps upload).

The chip also implements the similar big.LITTLE concept which combines the power of the fast and slow cores clusters in a parallel operation and allows for adjustment of each clusters. This is a major performance booster. The performance of the Snapdragon 660 is similar and comparable to that of the high end Snapdragon 821 and 835, however, its graphics capability is lower than these chips.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 Graphics

Powered by the Adreno 512 graphics card, the chip provides support for artificial intelligence, enhanced gaming and advanced photography. The chip offers up to 30% higher graphics performance compared to the prior generation.

Process Technology (nm)

The SoC is built on a much more energy efficient 14nm FinFET process technology with more improvement than its predecessors. This helps the battery to last more even when used heavily.

Benchmarks (AnTuTu)

Over at AnTuTu, specifically on the version 6, the 660 reaches a minimum score of 110680, average score of 117216, median score of 117766 and max score of 120479 points. However, when we unboxed the Redmi Note 7 which was powered by this chipset, it reached 138322 points.
