Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 is said to be one of the mid-range chip from Qualcomm that was announced in June 2018. The 632 belongs to the 600 series and while appearing on the geekbench performance test, it made a high clear cut performance outsmarting the 636 and 630.

All of this when considered, shows that the 632 has a 30% advantage over the older Snapdragon 630, and it’s said to be an upgraded version of the 626. While it manages a slim 5-10% lead over the newer Snapdragon 636, this renders the Qualcomm’s motive of making the 636 chip a bit unrealistic.

Performance

Going by the Geekbench app, the chip recorded a score of 1377 in the single core test, and one of 5247 in the multi-core tests. For some perspective, the Snapdragon 630 series usually achieves scores in the region of 890 and 4200 in the single-core and multi-core tests respectively. On a similar note, the Snapdragon 636 usually records scores in the region of 1300 and 4800 respectively.

When talking about smartphones it’s practically unavoidable to talk about its processors. Processors are the one thing that powers the automation of every device and when choosing a mobile device, it’s therefore necessary to take a look at one intends to get from performance and efficiency of such mobile devices.

Process Technology (nm)

The 632 is manufactured in a 14nm process technology. The 14nm process technology offers an increase in performance and power consumption is less.

The chip is built on the Kryo processors and it utilizes the Kryo 250 CPU. While being an octa-core, incorporates 4 performance cores as well as 4 efficiency cores which integrates at clock speed of up to 1.8GHz.

The new Kryo 250 CPU offers a more affordable price segment, which makes it easier for phone makers to include some trending features like Dual VoLTE, tall screens with more budget placed on smartphones.

Qualcomm Snapdragon 632 Graphics

The Snapdragon 632 is obviously engineered on the Adreno 506. While this posses the same as that of the 626, the GPU in this version has been optimized for new OpenGL and Vulkan APIs leading to an increse of about 10%.

The Adreno 506 GPU in this chipset offers a robust processing power and it is designed to deliver rich and vivid images to mobile devices, as well as allow smooth gaming user experience.

Connectivity

It also supports the Qualcomm Hexagon 546 DSP technology and an All-Ways Aware technology.
Apart from that, it also comes with the same Snapdragon X9 LTE modem found on the Snapdragon 626. The X9 LTE is a dual SIM dual VoLTE modem which is capable of downloading files at a 300Mbps as well as handle uploads of 150Mbps.

It supports Wi-Fi standard of 802.11ac/b/g/n and it’s Wi-Fi spectral bands clocked at 2.5Ghz and 5GHz, utilizing a speed of about 364Mbps ensuring a high conectivity to other mobile platforms. There’s a support for Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 as well as Bluetooth 5.1.

Benchmarks (AnTuTu)

Over at AnTuTu, specifically on the version 6, the chip reaches a low of 76724, avg of 83461.3, median of 85777 and max points of 87883.
