Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 debuted as a premium mid-range android based octa-core SOC in 2017. From that moment it started powering upper mid-range smartphones. The chip is known for fully integrating the 64-Bit architecture and fully utilizing 8 Cortex A53 CPU cores clocking up to 2.2 GHz.
As stated above, it was announced in 2017 and is still on most Android phones today. This chip promises faster memory and offers faster connectivity than its predecessor, the Qualcomm Snapdragon 626. It even reaches a faster clock speed and is more power efficient than the aforementioned.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 Processor
Designed in the 14nm process technology the chip provides a computing speed of up to 2.2 GHz, which should get tasks done. Utilizing a LPDDR4-2666 memory controller (1333 MHz) and a Qualcomm Spectra ISP, the chip supports X12 LTE (Cat 12/13, 600 Mbps down, 150 Mbps up) modem, 802.11ac WiFi and the new Bluetooth 5.0 technology. Furthermore, it can support advanced photography while ensuring the longevity of the battery life.
Qualcomm Snapdragon 630 Graphics
For graphics, it’s powered by the Adreno 508 GPU, the graphics chip promises vibrant visual display as well as enhanced gaming experience. The Qualcomm Spectra ISP ensures up to 30% higher graphics performance than the chip being offered by prior generation.
Process Technology (nm)
The chipset is built on the newer 14nm FinFET process technology, this, when compared to 28nm chips is more power efficient and lets your battery lasts longer. However, it can’t be compared with modern day 10nm mid-range chips.
The chipset reaches a decent rating across several benchmarks when tested. On AnTuTu v6, the chip reached a min score of 44128, a median of 70988, maximum 73617 points and an average of 68641.7points.
