Oppo R17 Neo has been launched in Japan today as the latest smartphone to join the R series from Oppo. Oppo has been releasing a couple of smartphones these past few weeks that looks quite identical. First, there was the F9 and F9 Pro, then the R17 and R17 Pro came on-board, we just compared the K1 and R15X just yesterday. Nonetheless, the R17 Neo is equipped with trendy in-display fingerprint reader which is protected by the new Corning Gorilla Glass 6.
Design
The R17 Neo looks absolutely stunning and gradient just like the K1 and R15X. Everything is still the same with the design, although the colour textures are quite different if you look closely. It measures 7.4 mm in thickness, weighs 156g overall as well and will be available in Blue and Red gradient colors.
Display
The R17 Neo is built around a 6.4-inch AMOLED water-drop display. The screen boasts of 1080 x 2340 pixels in resolution along with a 403 pixel per inch density for clear visuals. Overall, the beautiful screen stretches up to 84.4% screen-to-body as well.
Software and Hardware
It runs on Android 8.1 Oreo out of the box with ColorOS 5.2 on top. Under the hood, the Snapdragon 660 chipset from Qualcomm still makes the calls, it comes with 8-cores of processor clocking at 2.2GHz for a smooth ride.
The Adreno 512 graphics card handles graphics. For storing files, the device packs a bigger 128GB internal storage space which is expandable up to 256GB using a memory card. It boasts of a bigger 4GB RAM space as well for multitasking through apps.
Camera
The Oppo R17 Neo is equipped with dual 16MP + 2MP rear camera for photography. The camera is accompanied by a LED flash and other internal features listed in the table below. For taking selfies, there’s a 25MP Selfie camera with AI beautification.
Battery
Powering up the R17 Neo is a 3600mAh battery capacity, there’s support for fast charging here. Charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 2 hours.
