The Nokia 8.1 is coming, this will be an update to the Nokia 7.1 that has been trending on shopping stores. The official photos of the 8.1 has been made public ahead of its official unveiling on the 5th of December in Dubai. The device will be the latest smartphone HMD Global will use to sign off the year. It’s powered by the same Snapdragon 710 we saw on the 7.1, however, the front reveals a slightly bigger notch than what was expected. It’s actually the X7 for the global market.
Design
It looks totally different from the 7.1 from the back as well. The LED flash now sits right beside the dual rear cameras instead of being underneath. Nonetheless, the fingerprint scanner is still in its usual position. It measures 7.97mm in thickness, weighs 185g overall and will be available in more colours, namely Dark Blue, Night Red, Magic Night Silver and Night Black.
Display
The 8.1 is built around 6.18-inch IPS LCD notch display. The screen boasts of 1080 x 2246 pixels in resolution along with a 402 pixel per inch density for clear visuals as well. Overall, the screen stretches up to 82% screen-to-body ratio.
Software and Hardware
It runs on Android 9.0 Pie out of the box with Android One (Stock Android) user interface on top. Running the race here, is the Snapdragon 710 chipset from Qualcomm which comes with 8-cores of processor clocking at 2.2GHz for a smooth ride.
The Qualcomm Adreno 616 graphics card handles everything graphics. The phone packs 64GB/128GB internal storage space variants for saving your files, you can expand up to 400GB using a memory card. You get 4GB/6GB RAM space variants for multitasking through apps and tasks.
Camera
The Nokia 8.1 features dual 12MP + 13MP depth sensors at the rear for all your photography needs. The camera is equipped with a dual-LED flash and other internal features listed in the table below. For taking selfies, there’s a crystal clear 20MP selfie shooter.
Battery
Powering up the 8.1 is the same 3500mAh battery capacity we saw on the 7.1 with support for fast charging. Charging the battery from 0% to 100% shouldn’t take up to 2 hours tops.
