Doogee Y8 is now officially available for sale, with the Doogee Y8C and Doogee Y8 Plus on the way. This is coming barely weeks after the company introduced the Y7 and Y7 Plus with notch display. Flowing with the current trend, the Y8 features the trendy waterdrop notch, which is almost rampant on latest smartphones. Surprisingly, it also runs on Android Pie out of the box, while sporting dual rear camera. However, it’s a little weak internally, being powered by MediaTek’s MT6739 chip with 3GB RAM.
However, there’s also a Doogee Y8C with MT6750 chip and just 1GB RAM coming soon. The company also hinted of a Doogee Y8 Plus with a bigger 6.21-inch HD+ display, MT6761 chip and a massive 4000mAh battery. The Y8 comes with a polycarbornate body that really looks attractive for a budget smartphone. There’s also a rear fingerprint scanner and support for Face Unlock as well. It measures 9mm in thickness, weighs 150g overall and available in only Black and Green colours.
The Y8 is built around a 6.1-inch IPS LCD waterdrop display. The screen boasts of 600 x 1280 pixels in resolution along with a 232 pixel per inch density for clear visuals as well. Overall, the screen stretches up to 78.44% screen-to-body ratio.
Software and Hardware
It runs on Android 9 Pie operating system out of the box. Steering the wheel, is the MT6739 chipset from MediaTek which comes with 4-cores of processor clocking at 1.3GHz offering a smooth ride.
The PowerVR GE8100 graphics card handles everything graphics. The phone packs 16GB internal storage space for storing your files, you can expand up to 128GB using a memory card. It comes with 3GB RAM space for multitasking through apps and tasks.
The Doogee Y8 houses dual 8MP + 5MP rear camera for all your photography needs. The camera is equipped with a dual-LED flash and other internal features listed in the table below. For taking selfies, there’s a 5MP shooter with f/2.2 aperture.
Powering up the Y8 is a 3400mAh battery capacity with no support for fast charging. Charging the battery from 0% to 100% might take up to 2.8 hours.
